107K Use of Law Journals and Legal Software Notes

Creation of articles and notes for publication in the University of Illinois Law Review; Elder Law Journal; Journal of Law, Technology and Policy; or the Illinois Law Update section of the Illinois Bar Journal. Can be repeated up to the maximum values specified below. Membership in the University of Illinois Law Review, Elder Law Journal, or JLTP is by invitation only, based on the results of the journal essay competition. Only students of 2L and 3L are eligible for selection, and only students selected for these journals can register for credits. Student members receive 1 hour of ungraded academic credit for each semester during which they successfully meet their membership requirements; Members of the editorial board of each journal receive 2 hours of ungraded credit for the semesters in which they are members of the editorial board. This article, written by students and published in the Illinois Bar Journal, summarizes the main developments of interest to Illinois practitioners from the following five sources and briefly analyzes them: Working at ILU does not count towards meeting the higher writing requirement. 1. Law Review, Elder Law Journal and the Journal of Law, Technology and Policy (“JLTP”) As a general rule, all 1L or 2L students who have received an A grade or higher in legal writing and analysis or legal research are invited to apply for a staff position at ilu for the fall semester after successfully completing their first year. Final staff selection is made by the current ILU editorial team. Employees receive one hour of academic credit each semester for their work at ILU. The employees of the current year then automatically become the editors of the following year.

Members of the editorial board receive two credit hours for each semester of work. Therefore, a student can accumulate up to 6 hours of academic credit to work at ILU (two as an employee, four as a member of the editorial board).
