I prepare submissions to the Alberta Utilities Commission on these rules and standards and provide legal and policy advice on all related regulatory proceedings. Outside of work, I`m a runner and have completed two half marathons in the last two years – the SeaWheeze in Vancouver and Melissa`s road race in Banff. Technological advances will continue to make various generation sources available to Alberta`s electricity grid, and the AESO will be responsible for developing rules that will allow new types of generation to connect to other, more traditional generation sources.

Pauline McLean was born from 1. October 2019 appointed Vice-President, Law, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).

Previously, Ms. McLean served as Director, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, and Associate General Counsel, and as Director, Business Management; Director, Competition Process; Senior Program Manager and Legal Counsel, competitive process with the AESO. Over the past 10 years, she has also advised a wide range of AESO business units, including IT, regulatory, operations, finance, corporate security, intergovernmental affairs, communications and human resources. Prior to joining the AESO, Ms. McLean worked as a private lawyer in the business law group of Macleod Dixon LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP). Ms. McLean has advised clients in the areas of general business law and technology companies, with a focus on procurement, outsourcing, general corporate business matters, intellectual property and brand management. Ms. McLean holds a Bachelor of Science in Cells, Molecular and Microbiology and a Bachelor of Laws, both from the University of Calgary, as well as the CIC.C (Certified In-House Counsel Canada) designation from the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association and the Rotman School of Management.

Marie-France Samaroden was appointed Vice President, Grid Reliability – Operations for the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) in February 2022. Ms Samaroden is responsible for leading AESO`s network and market operations. She joined after joining AESO in November 2019 as Director of Engineering, Project Management and Technology. Wife. Samaroden has over 21 years of experience in the electricity industry. Prior to joining AESO, she worked at AltaLink Management Limited and TransAlta Corporation. His experience includes working and leading system operations, fault analysis, asset management, projects and engineering teams. Ms. Samaroden holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan. She is also a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. Miranda Keating Erickson was appointed Vice President, Markets for the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) in November 2017.

She is responsible for the design and monitoring of price signals in Alberta`s electricity markets, as well as rates, business economics, execution of large-scale purchases and monitoring of resulting trade agreements, as well as forecasting future electricity demand in Alberta. Since joining the AESO in February 2010, Ms. Keating Erickson has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including her most recent roles as Vice President of Regulatory and External Affairs and Vice President of Operations. She is part of the AESO`s leadership team responsible for reliably operating the electricity grid and wholesale electricity market to support Alberta`s $300 billion economy. Wife. Keating Erickson has over 20 years of experience in the electricity industry in Alberta, including previous roles at TransAlta, where she had extensive experience and acquired leadership skills in operations, investor relations, trade, project management and business management. Ms. Keating Erickson not only has extensive knowledge of Alberta`s electricity sector, but also serves on the Board of Directors of Via Rail and has been active with the McGill Alumni Association for over 15 years, where she is currently a member of the Desautels Global Experts program. Ms. Keating Erickson has a long history of contributing to the community through her involvement with AIESEC, where she has held an advisory role for over 20 years and is currently a member of AIESEC`s International Oversight Group.

Wife. Keating Erickson holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in Montreal, a Project Management Professional designation and the ICSD designation. D of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
