OIP is pleased to offer virtual training to FOIA professionals and individuals with FOIA responsibilities. Virtual classes are delivered in real time by OIP instructors. These courses are designed as shorter, up-to-date training for employees at all stages of the FOIA workforce, from new hires to experienced FOIA professionals or FOIA managers.

The OIP`s collection of training tools is designed to help ensure that these essential resources are available to all federal employees – from agency management to program staff to FOIA professionals responsible for processing records for disclosure. These resources are listed below with links and instructions for accessing them: In addition to offering FOIA training available to all FOIA staff in the agency, many agencies find it useful to conduct specialized FOIA training on an individual basis. Such training typically focuses on the types of records maintained by the organization, the FOIA issues that most often surround it, and the organization`s internal administrative practices. Individualized agency training provides a useful exchange between the various components of an organization related to FOIA, particularly when an organization brings together both its headquarters and FOIA field staff for agency-wide training.
