Specific requirements for each degree program are displayed under the academic department offering the major and include a program display with courses listed by major, support, concentration (if applicable), general education, and free electives. Each major has a completion flowchart showing the recommended order of courses leading to completion; see the “Degree Flowcharts” link at the top of this page. Other courses offered must be pre-approved by the chair of your dissertation or dissertation commission. The course-only option is a final option. Transfer to this option requires the approval of the Program Manager. As a degree without a thesis, this option does not lead to a PhD. Students are responsible for meeting all requirements and must take responsibility. Advice is available from academic advisors, college advisory centres, the registrar`s office, and online student progress reports. Students should plan their programs of study carefully and discuss them frequently with their advisors. Students are strongly advised to access their final report regularly, even after registering quarterly, to verify that the courses they have registered for meet the requirements. They are also encouraged to correct any unforeseen gaps in the information contained in their final progress report, bearing in mind that replacements, transfer credits, etc.
recently received may not yet be included in the final progress report. As close approaches, paying close attention to the financial progress report will help ensure they meet closing requirements in a timely manner. Two years are needed. This includes both algebra 1 and algebra 2. Cal Poly considers courses in seventh and/or eighth grade. For more information on how to meet this completion requirement, contact the Office of Writing and Learning Initiatives, Kennedy Library (35) Room 202A (805-756-2067) or visit the GWR writingandlearning.calpoly.edu/gwr website. Students must take a USCP course. This course also meets a requirement for major, support, general education or free option. Refresher courses do NOT count towards an MS completion requirement and may NOT be included in a program.
Some students with insufficient computer science training may have received conditional admission to the program and must meet certain requirements for the undergraduate remedial course. A correction may also be prescribed after admission to the CIT graduate program, based on the verification of the student`s academic and professional background and abilities by the first academic advisor. Students should first consult GE`s website for study abroad courses, which have already been pre-approved for Cal Poly GE loans. If the course is not available, students are strongly advised to submit a study abroad application prior to going abroad to determine if the course is receiving GE credits. If you need help with GE applications abroad, contact the Cal Poly International Center in studyabroad@calpoly.edu. Two years of the same language, except English, are required and four years are recommended. American Sign Language is acceptable. Cal Poly considers courses in seventh and/or eighth grade. High schools offer many different courses that can be used to meet our courses required for admission. For more information on the specific areas from A to G where your high school courses fall, see the list of UC/CSU approved A-G courses. USCP courses must meet all of the following criteria. and according to AS-836-17, they must also consider Diversity Learning Objectives (DLOs).
USCP courses must: Generally, the following courses apply to specific areas: Transfer credits for GE courses are accepted by California institutions, as approved by the Chancery. For more information, see How to Use Assist on the Office of the Registrar`s website. Some Cal Poly programs specify specific GE courses for the major or support; These courses must be completed with articulated equivalencies. See assist.org/ for California Community College for both GE CSU lists and specific articulation agreements. NOTE: A maximum of 16 credits of internships and dual academic achievements can be credited at the bachelor`s level. A maximum of 105 units of community college courses may be applied to the total units required for graduation. For more information, see Evaluating Transfer Credits. Note: Zone F and the USCP are separate completion requirements. Courses (Cal Poly or Transfer Courses) approved for Zone F may also not meet the USCP. Speed in the field of study may be demonstrated by additional courses in addition to the remaining degree requirements in the student`s original catalog and/or by relevant work experience to be determined by the department head.
Because Cal Poly degrees are always awarded for the period in which the requirements are met, additional requirements may vary depending on time elapsed and major to align the curriculum from an older catalog with current trends in the academic discipline. Forms and examples: Senior management projects may focus on research, projects and/or portfolios; supervised individually or based on courses; self-employed or team-based worker; subject specific and/or interdisciplinary. They can take forms including, but not limited to: One year is required and two years is recommended. Courses can be chosen from one of the following categories: dance, music, theatre, interdisciplinary arts or visual arts (e.g. painting, web/graphic design, film/video, inter art/multimedia). Two one-semester courses in the same discipline are also allowed. There are eight general requirements that all students must complete in order to obtain the bachelor`s degree from Cal Poly and attend the beginning. The more students understand their progress in meeting these requirements and relate them to the many programs available, the better the chances of creating an exciting educational experience and avoiding mistakes that can delay graduation. For students admitted in the fall of 2016 or later, a grade of C- or better in a course in this GE field is required.
CNIT Cyberforensics courses approved by the student`s graduate studies committee. Courses in statistics or quantitative methods A student attending regular sessions on a campus of California State University, California Community College, or a combination of California community colleges and California State University campuses may choose to meet the catalog requirements that apply on the campus from which the student will graduate to meet the degree requirements: The Golden Four classes are a series of foundational learning courses that set the stage for future learning within GE and in core programs. Therefore, students are encouraged to complete these four courses during the first year. These courses are the three courses in Area A plus B4: Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning. The three courses in Zone A provide instruction and practice in writing, speaking and critical thinking. Completing one or more courses in this field is often a prerequisite for other GE degree programs. All subsets of the Golden Four require students to achieve a grade of C- or better. (Other GE courses require a passing grade of D- or better.) Four years of English are required and five years are recommended. Five years can be achieved by taking two eligible courses in a school year or by taking one college course. Eligible courses include language, composition and literature; You need to incorporate in-depth reading, write frequently, and practice listening and speaking to different audiences. Students are only allowed to use ESL/ELD English for one year. All Cal Poly students are required to complete a senior project as part of their bachelor`s degree program requirements.
All general education courses must have a corresponding written component. To achieve this goal, writing in most courses should be viewed primarily as a learning tool (rather than a goal in itself as in a composition course), and teachers should determine appropriate ways to integrate writing into classes. The writing component can take different forms depending on the topic and purpose of a course. Outside of the gender equality areas listed below, at least 10% of the grade for all gender equality courses must be based on appropriate written work (e.g., lab reports, math tests, essay questions, word problems, exam questions). Elective courses (approved by the student`s graduate committee) Students may NOT take elective lessons in lieu of approved courses in the primary field. Students should review the requirements of their major program of study to determine which of the following options is the appropriate path to the GWR degree: This is a thesis option specifically tailored to the discipline of cyber forensics. A thesis is required, which means that directed projects cannot replace the thesis and students are not allowed to complete this degree as a simple coursework. The resulting degree is included in the transcript as a “thesis” degree, with the area of specialization of cyber forensics listed. See also parent rules at the top of this page.
The MS degree in Computer Science and Information Technology is designed to be very flexible. This allows each student to tailor their degree to their own professional and research interests. There are several degree options, the requirements of which are described in the following sections. Campus authorities may approve or require replacements for discontinued courses. A campus may require a student to change majors or minors to meet the major or minor requirements in effect at the time of the change.
