Legal Team Building Activities

When planning a retirement, think about your goals and choose activities that align with those goals. If your goal is to strengthen bonds and build trust between team members, a high ropes course might be the way to go. If you have a small team, you can even have members compete individually. This will encourage the development of competitive spirit. By creating two or more competing teams, you can improve collaboration between members and reap the benefits of better productivity as a unit in the workplace. This team building exercise is ideal for new teams and those under a lot of pressure. It mitigates conflict and brings people together while fostering creativity and group cohesion. Practice silos can quickly create barriers in law firms. Each practice has different performance measures and perceptions of success. In order to challenge lawyers from different practices to collaborate on a retirement project, they need to get to know each other and adopt new ways of thinking.

At our last Jaffe retreat, we were intentionally brought together in teams with colleagues we don`t normally work with to encourage each other to get to know each other better and work toward common goals. If you want to challenge employees and spark thoughtful conversations, mix groups and encourage people who don`t normally work together to share ideas. This trend includes legal space, with an increase in the number of companies hiring completely remote employees or creating “hybrid” agreements for new hires. Given the federal nature of immigration law and the many technical tools available that allow you to not only work with clients remotely, but also perform your administrative tasks remotely, many immigration lawyers welcome completely remote law firms, whether they start as individual practitioners or expand their teams. If you haven`t established trust and you`re just a group of individuals, you`re going to get into trouble in bad times. An escape room won`t solve this on its own, but team-building activities are simple things you can do to support this strength. Spending a few days away from the office with your colleagues, whom you see a lot every day, brings you a lot closer. This creates a feeling, similar to a reunion with your extended family on vacation. A team that behaves like family tends to have better communication, more trust and appreciation for each other, and increased productivity. This is a great idea to get some fresh air with your team. Find a free spot near the office, such as a park or parking lot, and scatter random objects while a person is blindfolded. Another person must guide the blindfolded person through the area without touching the objects.

With our comprehensive library of immigration forms, easy-to-use customer questionnaires, and state-of-the-art API integrations, Docketwise helps you stay on top of all your immigration cases, easily communicate with your clients, and create and manage your immigration office as you and your team grow with it. Based in Canada, Quizcoconut is a service that allows you to organize virtual team building events for your team. This includes a case management platform that allows all team members to collaborate and access relevant information when needed. Type: Folder. Therefore, it is important to encourage employees to continue to accept and express constructive criticism. Your team may not know exactly how to do this in a virtual enterprise. Therefore, it is a good idea to provide them with guidelines. Just because we`re in a pandemic doesn`t mean studies aren`t underway (at least more). In many places, however, processes still take place virtually. With that in mind, it`s probably a good idea for your team to practice test presentations electronically.

Even if you don`t have a case going to court soon, you can use one of the ready-made mock trial services partly for practice and partly for fun. In fact, setting up a mock trial competition between team members could add to the fun. However, before you schedule another Zoom webinar on wine and cheese at 6 p.m., consider some great tools specifically designed to help remote teams foster company culture in today`s remote world. I can`t see a single reason why this valuable exercise couldn`t happen during a Zoom call. I also see no reason why it should not be the turn of all the lawyers and paralegals in the firm. The program was developed in collaboration with the firm`s head of training, who made it clear to us that the program needed to be narrowly focused, thorough, and busy, adding that lawyers “tend to devour tasks – they get bored so quickly!” We were informed of the role, age group, areas of expertise and seniority of the participants. With all this in mind, we began designing a program to ensure that the company`s goals were met and that the afternoon would provide tangible results for the group in developing the team. This is a great game to help team members set their goals and become more assertive.

To further encourage teamwork and participation, you may want to offer an award to the people who share the most ideas with the rest of the team. This advice dates back to when I was a young litigator in a large law firm. At that time, new employees were responsible for presenting significant new developments to new cases across their department at weekly in-person lunches. Although it was about 20 years ago, I remember it well because: (1) I was scared every time I had to present; and (2) the exercise actually forced me to keep abreast of legal developments in my field of practice. You start with all your team members standing side by side in a circle. You ask each person to grab another team member`s hand with their right hand, and then grab another person`s hand with their left hand. The main objective of this game is to untangle the human knot in no time. This game is fun and great for improving communication and collaboration within teams. You need to get people to organize the release of hands, and – if you`re careful – you`ll find out who the real leaders and followers in your team are. One of the main challenges is to stimulate employee engagement in a virtual world.

That`s why we`ve put together a list of 10 creative ideas to make your lawyers feel engaged and important when working from home. The team building program is designed to improve communication and collaboration by encouraging lawyers to step out of their comfort zone and work with colleagues outside of their specialty, expertise or seniority.
